Mr Smith Goes to Washington - Jimmy Stewart

The movie, Mr. Smith goes to Washington (1939) is about Jefferson Smith (Jimmy Stewart), a noble but naive man who is appointed to finish out the remaining term of a recently vacated U.S. Senate seat. His encounters with all manner of corruption only serves to strengthen his resolve in the face of stagnant, status-quo Washington bureaucrats who serve their personal agendas at the expense of their constituencies who put them into office. Rather than give in, Smith stages a one-man filibuster that lasts, 'twenty-three hours and sixteen minutes.' He finally collapses but not before he confronts Senator Payne, with his challenge to remember The Golden Rule.

In the end, Mr. Smith refuses to lose hope. He refuses to part with his ideals and principles in the face of frustration.

Yes, this movie is sappy and yes, Washington doesn't work that way but there is a certain romance in watching heroic battles as the one put forth by Senator Smith in the defense of social justice and simple Human decency.

Sixty-nine years have passed since Frank Capra directed this movie. It remains poignant because Washington still has its share of corrupt politicians and bureaucrats. Nowadays, it appears that almost daily, the majority party faces yet another sex scandal or charge for peddling influence to the highest bidder as did Congressman Robert Ney of (R) Ohio or California's Congressman (R) Randall 'Duke' Cunningham were.


Something has to change when a respected Senator [Larry Craig (R) Idaho] is caught in a bathroom sex sting or when another [Congressman Mark Foley (R) Florida] is forced to resign after being caught soliciting sex from under-age Congressional Page boys - all this as they fought to implement legislation against sex-offenders and spoke so vehemently about the demise of family values in America as foundations for their platforms to get elected into office. It turns out the Republican Party is rife with perverts, philanderers and people on the take. There are quite a few more, like Tom Delay and Newt Gingrich who go on the attack as if their ability to use the distributed responsibility argument could stand up to the very measure they invoke as God-fearing Christians. The point is, they are corrupt - period.

No-bid contracts are the order of the day for Republican associates and cronies who break the law are ignored by the White House. Worse yet, even when they are caught red-handed breaking the law, they are rewarded for such transgressions by presidential pardon.

Maybe now is the Democratic Party's opportunity to heed the call of the people by submitting to the only special interest that matters in America, the little man, the poor, the weak and the back-bone of this country, the working class.

If we cannot take care of our own family, how can we begin to even consider being a beacon for the rest of the world?

Another Republican Pervert is Busted

According to a Washington Post article that appeared this Saturday, 16 February 2008, Maryland Delegate Robert McKee resigned his position Friday, two weeks after authorities seized evidence including a couple of computers and child pornography in the form of videotapes and 'printed materials' from his home in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Beware of wolves in shepherd's clothing....

Ironically, McKee was instrumental in formulating and passing laws aimed at protecting children from sexual predators.

McKee also resigned as Executive Director for Washington County's Big Brothers Big Sisters chapter where he worked for 29 years. Wow. According to blogger, "Down with Tyranny," 'He's been very active in the Little League and, predictably, was a chaplain for the First Christian Church...'

Et tu Brutus?

Well, McKee joins long list of distinguished Republicans who have been involved in sex scandals. The party of Family Values which includes some heavy hitters like the US Senator Larry Craig whose penchant for random sexual liaisons with men in airport bathrooms was revealed in a police sting, or the lecherous sexual predator and pedophile Florida Congressman Mark Foley and his pursuit of Congressional Page boys just to mention a couple. The list of sex scandals linked to these lawmakers and their deviances grows every day leaving their once solid constituency baffled, confused and disgusted with each new revelation.

Personal character isn't what you do when everyone is watching, it is what you do when no one is watching.

The extent to which legislators like McKee, Rep Foley, Senator Craig and the host of other Republicans ring their morality bell as they target homosexuals branding them as perverts and sexual predators is ironic, even comical in light of their own scandalous tendencies.

An emerging reality is taking shape as these kinds of nasty revelations are brought to light; being highly active in implementing anti-gay legislation seems to be reciprocally related with unresolved, closeted behaviors when it comes to self-proclaimed, morally upright Republican legislators. It begs the question; who better to write such laws than the child molesters and closet homosexuals themselves?

As karma would have it, they just keep getting caught with the proverbial planks in their eyes. It all has an Alice in Wonderland quality to it; things just seem to be getting 'curiouser and curiouser.'

To be of service or to be serviced, that is the question...

With his sexual appetite for children revealed, McKee's resignation letter expressed how the exposure was, 'deeply embarrassing to me' and further characterized his behavior as, a poor reflection on his, 'service to the community.'

Amen brother!

There is poetic justice to it all; Mark McKee will get to witness first-hand how effective the predatory laws he helped to write are.

The investigators haven't yet revealed whether his preference is under age boys or girls.

Democrats Win Nationwide - However, New Mexico's Coconut Constituency Again Stupidly Delivers Heather Their Support

While Americans have issued what amounts to a referendum against George Bush and his, "Stay the course" Iraq war policy, New Mexico remains a toss-up at least as far as NM Republican Congresswoman, Heather Wilson goes.

As of right now, Wilson leads Attorney General Patricia Madrid by 1300 votes. Final counting is wrapping up and the results ought to be official by noon today. Ironically, New Mexico is predominantly Democrat and yet, Heather Wilson appears to have pulled off yet another win.

Well, it was Madrid's election to lose - I'll discuss more on that in a later post once the outcome is official. Suffice it to say, that Heather's appeal is potent enough to draw a demographic of voters that have traditionally been Democrat.

The past decades of influx to New Mexico is shifting the political climate - add to that the sense of apathy on the part of native new Mexican Democrats, strong ties to the American military industrial complex and finally, the cultural confusion of the local indigenous Latino population explains this cultural voting phenomenon playing itself out in the First Congressional District.

The Latino Perspective: Latinos in New Mexico are atypical in that they do not vote as a block. Rather, they vote according to socio-economic status. The result has played itself out and it is a direct result of the cultural schizophrenia induced by shame and denial of those who would prefer to be anything but Latino.

Sadly, the misplaced loyalty to a party that represents quite specific interests appeals to a large enough segment of New Mexico's native Hispanics to cause power shifts - the likes of which we are seeing played out in favor of Heather Wilson.

Needless to say; if Wilson wins, I am disappointed. I am disappointed - not that Heather can win - but rather that she can win off the votes of a select few coconuts (Latinos who are ashamed to be Hispanic; brown-skinned on the outside and white on the inside - not any different from the pejorative used to describe 'Uncle Tom' traitorous blacks) who devalue their culture and quite literally abandon all that represents their culture in favor of the dominant American cultural perspectives held by the majority population in the United States. How sad that these Tio Tacos can quite literally turn their backs on their cultural values because they mistakenly confuse them as being inferior.

Consequently, these Latinos align themselves with bigots, xenophobes, rednecks not unlike the Jews that funded the Catholic Kings Isabella and Ferdinand's rise to power and expulsion of the Moors from Spain in the 15th century - only to then be subjected to bigoted abuses, alienation, derision and disaffection after their purpose had been served.

Such sell-outs love to wrap themselves in the American flag and paint themselves as, "rootin'-tootin Americans." These days, the refer to themselves as, 'Republicanos.' Lacking any sense of historical context, they ignorantly do it - I can only assume - out of profound self-hatred, delusional believing that their olive skin and genetic phenotype will be mollified in the eyes of their puppet-masters if they speak the King Dubya's English. Apparently their brown asses and mixed race features escape them when they look in the mirror. Such self-deception is as ludicrous as the chicken, cow and pig who lovingly look to farmer Jones because he feeds and cares for them.

Yes, these are the same morons who cross themselves in church and pray on Sunday for the unborn while simultaneously parsing the words in the Good Book as they scream for state-sanctioned executions; the same folks who are all too willing to abandon the Bible when it comes to caring for the poor, the defenseless and the weak if it has any potential effect on their holy-rolling pocketbooks. Such morons wouldn't think twice about hiding their tortillas and tacos, but they cannot deny what their phenotype and DNA belie. In the end, they dismiss fellow Latinos who hold opposite views as "far-left" and "marginalized" in order to sniff the lying adulterer Newt Gingrich's back side.

And why do they do it? Why are they so willing to ignore their most basic religious tenets? Because they suffer from ethnic shame - they approach the table as apologist beggars. They naively feed at the troughs of their masters never realizing that they are just being groomed as decoys to garner the vote. When the pig is being fattened for the kill, he never eats better. Indeed, these knuckle heads would label Jesus Christ himself as a "socialist" if he was to walk the earth today.

This is precisely what is wrong with the Coconut Constituency in America and, more specifically, New Mexico; they support the oppressors of their people and look the other way as Human rights violations abound. They look away as the bigoted agendas of the right persist and they mistakenly conclude that their rise in social status has nothing to do with the rich cultural values they were given as they rose from their humble beginnings, their beans and chile sustenance and their very core beliefs abandoned for alignment with their historical arch rivals and conquerors.

It looks like Heather might have pulled it off. Now she can wipe her ass with the fools who put you into office for another two years.

Way to go Heather. You did it to the Jews, you did it to the Veterans, you did it to the Senior Citizens and you can continue to do it thanks to the Coconut Constituency.

Only in New Mexico; the national trend is to seek change and Nuevo Mexicanos drag in behind.

According to the Congressional Research Service, the energy firm Halliburton could be overcharging the U.S. as much as $249 million for importing fuel into Iraq. The amendment would have provided funding to grant a $1,500 bonus to every American service member serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, including National Guard and reserve forces. 2] They get exposed
3] Heather calls a press conference to divest herself of her connection to the bad guys - bemoans these unethical donors' betrayals of the public trust.
4] After condemming their criminal behaviors as despicable she supports having the full weight of the law to rain down on those same friends and associates from whom she gladly accepted campaign money.
4] She declares that she will be donating the proceeds of her ill-gotten gains to the Sunlight Foundation.
5] Finally, she and lies in wait for yet another of her self-righteous neocon buddies to be exposed and the process starts all over again.
6] Meanwhile, Birds-of-a-feather Heather waits for more money from her self-serving cronies to drop into her lap.

One thing is for certain, Heather Wilson sure donates a boat load of dirty money - once she has been exposed and she sure gets morality when the cameras start rolling. While she washes hands more than Shakespeare's Lady Macbeth, she ain't losing any sleep over it.

Ohio Republican Congressman Bob Ney is pleading guilty today for his role in the Jack Abramoff scandal. It seems Ney's congressional influence was for sale to the highest bidder; he was busted for selling it to the lobbyist Jack Abramoff. You can read about the crooked Congressman it by clicking here.

Sentencing guidelines call for up to ten years in the pokey for this fine, upstanding ex-congressman. Happy Friday the thirteenth Mr. Ney. The prosecution wants 27 months.

How does this tie in to NM Congresswoman Heather, the shape-shifter Wilson? Well she took money from Rep. Ney. Of course, when his crooked ways came to light, Birds of a feather Heather announced she was donating the $6,000.00 she received - from the unethical congressman - to the Sunlight Foundation.

What an honorable thing to do - gladly accept funds from someone who dirty, take their money, use it and then donate those funds once their donor's improprieties have been revealed.

To be certain, other public officials from both parties have been in similar situations. Moreover, divesting themselves monetarily and symbolically by donating such proceeds to the Sunlight Foundation seems like the right thing to do.

However, Heather Wilson has developed a disturbing pattern whereby she doesn't seem to either care where her money comes from or she has really poor judgement when it comes to accepting money and support from crooks and liars.

Considering Heather's 'emotional moment' up on the Hill when her voice cracked as she lamented Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake's SuperBowl nipple slip fiasco, it would seem as though someone who weeps for the cameras over what she called a 'travesty' might keep herself abreast (pun intended) of the boobs from whom she is soliciting re-election campaign contributions.

It seems like Birds of a Feather Heather's Campaign funds go whatever way the political winds blow.

It doesn't say much for Heather Wilson - especially when she has had to do this on several occaisons.

Enter bon vivant Randy "Duke Cunningham" - a high roller whose excesses landed him in jail...

Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham, the congressman from California's 50th Congressional district - who enjoyed getting into comfy pajamas and a turtle neck while entertaining women under lava lamp-light in a yacht provided to him by a Defense contractor - was forced to step down from his office after he was busted for a whole litany of illegal activities. Duke also donated money to Heather Wilson's re-election coffers. Of course, after his questional moral character flaws were revealed, Heather donated the $5,000.00 - which he had funneled in her direction - to the Sunlight Foundation.

Fellow House Page Committee member Mark, 'do I make you horny?' Foley - whose only problem is his desire to have sexual relations with boys...

Mark Foley, the Florida Congressman whose shameful efforts to seduce under-age boys to drop their underpants for a little rear-end romance also donated funds to the re-elect Heather effort and, true to form, Heather donated the $8,000.00 she received from Foley to yet another charity. By the way, Heather who also sat on the House Page oversight Committee - the same Pages whom Foley was sending his sexually provoctive emails to. Wilson was also the largest recipient of funds from Foley.

'Kickback' Tom Delay and 'Jack the rip-off' Abramoff...

Tom Delay, the bug-eyed Texas exterminator turned Congressman also donated funding to Birds of a Feather Heather - to the tune of $50,000.00. He is no longer a Congressman owing to his corruption indictment in that great state. Heather Wilson again donated the proceeds from Delay to - you guessed it - to the Sunlight Foundation.

Abramoff whose exploits include ripping off Native American tribes from who he solicited business. Disparaging them in writing as 'ignorant savages,' as justification for bilking them of their money was a real jewel of a guy. For his efforts, Abramoff - pled guilty in July '06 to Fraud, Tax evasion and Bribery of a public official.

Birds-of-a-feather Heather also donated the money she received from Abramoff - to charity.

Well, I suppose we do need Buzzards, bottom feeders and scum in the food chain.

Heather Wilson - George Bush's Monkey sponsors Domestic Wiretapping Bill

When you see New Mexico's Republican Congressman, Heather Wilson's television ads bidding for her re-election she would like for you to believe that she is an 'Independent,' free-thinking Republican, moderate in her political stances and someone who doesn't vote in lock-step with the Republican party.

Sounds pretty good until you see the Bill she recently sponsored - the Heather Wilson Wiretapping Bill.

The Terrorist of 1600 Pennsylvania needed someone to sponsor one of the most dangerous Bills ever. Dangerous because, if passed it can directly undermine the US Constitution itself. Shape shifter Wilson is George Bush's man.

Talk about a lackey for Bush & Co. Quite simply, Heather Wilson's bill which has 'PARTISAN' written all over it is being touted by the Albuquerque Journal as the 'biggest [political] victory' for her ever.

Some victory indeed - hardly a 'middle-of-the-road' victory.

Heather Wilson is independent alright - so independent that she provides the bed which the neocons' will use to screw America out of their right to defend themselves against false accusations on a level playing field. Simply put, Shape-Shifter Wilson is using her office to do George Bush's bidding when she submits such a partisan agenda for Congressional vote with this most recent Wiretapping bill.

What's next for this this ass-kisser, a bill to have our children dressing like little brown shirt fascists of the Hitler youth? Heather's proud 'accomplishment' spells the end of Democracy and the rise of Fascism. Her celebrated 'accomplishment' deserves no credit at all because it will go down in America's History as one of the many efforts Bush and his neocon supporters initiated their onslaught of measures to destroy Democracy.

Like the old joke says, "the operation was a success but the patient died." Thank you Heather for the Bill which guarantees potential for invasion of every American's privacy - all your party needs is for either your boss - the President - or his fanatical followers - to label whoever stands in the way of the neocon agenda and they can go after them with a vengance. Thanks to your 'accomplishment,' in one fell swoop, Bush & Co. can silence their critics and political enemies simply by labelling them as a security threat to the United States of America and, by doing so, they can use the full force of the law in order to stop anyone who stands in their way. Thanks to your accomplishment, the people you stand with can by legally deny your political foes of their Constitutional guarantee to Due Process.

George Orwell warned about people like you in his book "Nineteen Eighty-Four." The historical distinction that you will have on American History will be that you finally put a face on 'Big Brother.' Congratulations, you have guaranteed yourself a place in the company of Joseph McCarthy.

Let's hope the US Senate has more sense than to rubber stamp this effort to side-step the foundation of America's Democracy.

Shape Shifter Heather Wilson-vs-Jews - Another example of her Hypocrisy

New Mexico's 1st Congressional District Representative Republican, Heather Wilson recently debated on September 18, 2006 with Democratic candidate Patricia Madrid at Albuquerque's Congregation Albert Jewish center. In that debate, she attempted to convince the group that she was a strong advocate for the Jewish State of Isreal.

Considering her obvious attempts to pander for the Jewish vote, her past actions behind the scenes belies her true feelings. Shape Shifter Wilson, a graduate of the Air Force Academy tuned her back on the Jews who attend her alma mater. On May 4, 2005 the Washington Post - arguably a conservative news paper agency - reported on a heavy underlying effort to impose Christianity upon the student body.

USA Today has a particularly good article which details the specifics of the story.

Albuquerque Businessman and Lawyer, Mikey Weinstein - a member of her constituency who filed a suit against the Air Force Academy over the matter.

In a PBS NewsHour panel interview, Michael "Mikey" Weinstein said, "My kids have been told that all of their ancestors, all of their descendents, they themselves will burn eternally in the Lake of Fire, for not accepting an evangelical biblical world view of Christ."

The Air Force Academy Graduate who's father, daughter-in-law, and son graduated from that institution also has another son (Curtis) who is still attending the USAFA. Weinstein, who was a White House Lawyer for the Reagan Administration during the Iran-Contra investigation decided to take up the cause after his son told him of the problems he was experiencing at the Academy simply because he was a Jew.

"...Recalls Weinstein, “Curtis said, ‘Could you tell Mom I’m going to be getting into trouble?’ I was floored and asked, ‘What did you do?’ He said, ‘It’s what I’m going to do’ and he explained to me that he had been called a [expletive] Jew, accused of killing Jesus by a number of cadets.”

The young man was so upset over the slurs that he threatened to hit the next person who repeated them. He feared he would end up in a military prison."

He made some very poignant arguments regarding the quandry Jews and other non-christian cadets are routinely put in owing to the RSVP agenda set forth by the Air Force Academy. Weinstein also said, "There's been an attempt to have essentially an evangelical coup in the military. You have the vast majority of the chaplains corps and laity, meaning anybody else who is not a chaplain, who now view the military as a missionary field. And their goal is to see a spiritually transformed military with ambassadors of Christ in uniform." The man certainly does not seem irrational to me. Moreover, that he has two sons who have been educated at the Academy indicates just how committed he has been to his country as a patriotic American.

Weinstein approached Congressman Wilson in an effort to garner her support for his cause was rebuffed. Shape shifter Wilson refused to throw her weight behind the effort to democratize the religious process and to urge the Academy to promote religious freedom.

By her actions, Shape Shifter Wilson has made clear that she is unwilling to undermine her support by standing on the side of the Consitution which clearly calls for seperation of Church and State and which lies squarely at odds with her far-right voting constituency.

This is why the once staunch GOP supporter, Mikey Weinstein has decided to stand with Patricia Madrid in her bid to unseat Hater Wilson.

In a recent invitation for a $250.00/plate dinner fundraiser which he sponsored, Weinstein wrote, "I want to have the opportunity to tell you personally why my family and I are never again supporting Heather Wilson and why we are fully supporting Patricia Madrid. . . ."

It is pretty simple, if you want family values, supporting GOP is not the answer. If you were disgusted by the Clinton Affair then ask yourself this question, "How can I vote for members of a party who preach one thing - ostensibly to get votes - and behave quite differently?"

If you want representation in Washington DC, then why would you vote for crooks, bigots, sexual predators, liars and religious zealots?

Heather Wilson; She’s no flip-flopper, she’s a shape shifter

Native American lore tells of entities who can change their appearance in order to alter their true identities. "Shape shifters" draw their power from deceit and illusion. Such a description seems apropos for quite a few politicians of late - Representatives Mark Foley, Tom Delay, Denny Hastert & Bob Ney, Karl Rove, Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Condi Rice and even King George Bush himself.

New Mexico Republican Congresswoman Heather Wilson is currently engaged in the fight of her political life. The Air Force Academy graduate, known for her strong family values has found her support dwindling in her constituency because of her political alignment with the president whose approval ratings are the lowest of all presidents in US History.

Of course, when the ratings need to be boosted, the Rovian run Bush Administration relies on Fear and Smear - you know, resurrect the 'evil doer' skit or blame Clinton blah blah blah.

It seems her electorate is just as dissatisfied as the rest of the country is with the lies the Bush Administrated foisted upon the American public in order to wage war on Iraq.

While Representative Wilson initially supported the Iraq attack, she now claims that, in closed session, she was the only one to question the intelligence gathered regarding Saddam Hussein’s nuclear weapons arsenal. **cough-bullshit-cough**

Unfortunately, for the Congresswoman - who inadvertently referred to herself as a ‘congressman’ in her debate with Democratic candidate Patricia Madrid (a Freudean slip perhaps? Maybe not, just another shape shift) cannot deny the record where she was quoted on the record as affirming that the intelligence collected at the time – and being spoon-fed to her by the Bush Administration – was in fact correct. So the ad recently released by Wilson's opponent aptly raises the question; is Heather Wilson a liar or not? I say she is a shape shifter.

Now, Congressman Wilson is scrambling to donate funds that she received from the recently resigning Florida Representative, Mark Foley to charity. Foley has allegedly checked into an alcohol treatment program ostensibly to figure out why this co-chairman of the Congressional Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus he prefers beardless youths as sexual partners - ABC recently exposed the Congressman's e-mail attempts to stick his pickle in a page. Uhoh - another shape shifter!

Not good from a man who assiduously promoted himself as a protector of the youth from pedophiles - a man who helped enact legislation which curiously, may one day be used to convict him for his lacivious acts of enticing young boys to get freaky with him. Shape Shifter time!

So, once again, Heather Wilson announces she is dissociating herself from yet another unscrupulous Republican Politician- Just like she did with Bob Ney, and Tom Delay (thanks Nameless cynic). She is donating the proceeds that she received from those moral turds to charity. Funny how she gladly takes the money and then quickly tosses the gifts away - only after the scandal arises. She doesn't seem to have very good insight when it comes to taking money from dirty Republicans - situational ethics of the shape-shifter.

How ironic that Congressman Wilson and her party who were so proud of pointing fingers at Democratic presidential candidates Al Gore and later, John Kerry for being ‘flip-floppers’ is now in a position where she must waffle regarding her precarious position of supporting an administration that lied to the American Public. Now she must dissociate herself from her cronies such as the recently exposed pedophile Congressman from Florida.

She’s no flip-flopper. Fortunately, for the voters in her constituency, Congressman Wilson’s remarks and associations can be tracked. Utilizing a quote from a book that Republicans love to reference, “as you judge, so shall you be judged” (Matthew 7:2) here’s to you Heather Wilson, you shape shifter. You cannot escape your voting record, your public comments and your associations.

There is an old Spanish adage that says, “Dime con quien andas y te digo quien eres” which translates to mean, “Tell me who you walk with and I’ll tell you who you are.” Congressman Wilson, you stand with liars, bigots, and sexual predators. My father called you “Hater Wilson.” I now understand why.

I eagerly await your defeat and ouster from office along with the many other scoundrels of your ilk come November when the American Public registers just how fed-up we are with your hypocritical claim to the moral high road which rings hollow when compared to the lies and deception that your Shape-Shifting party of Fear and Smear has become.

Personally, I think Clinton fared pretty well.

Furthermore, I am amazed that a hard-hitting news reporter like the famed 60-Minutes journalist Mike Wallace could have such a chicken shit as Chris for a son - proof positive that integrity isn't necessarily genetic.

I suppose this is what happens when you have a famous father and you ride his coat tails into the business - but don't really have what it takes - so you end up being a hack who prostitutes your journalistic integrity by working on the Faux news channel.

I find it curious that YouTube was purchased by Google - the purchase was announced today [10/10/06]. Google is a Republican supporter -as evidenced by articles where Google has made donations to Republicans for their re-election [NM Republican Heather Wilson has received money from Google for her re-election].

I am disappointed that the censorship could take place so quickly after YouTube's purchase. This censorship makes it clear; Google is going to silence anyone who makes the Bush Administration look bad. What a shame.

I hope some other enterprising entrepreneur comes up with an alternative to YouTube and Google.
