A Voice in the Wilderness

As nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there's a twilight where everything remains seemingly unchanged, and it is in such twilight that we must be aware of change in the air, however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness. -- William O. Something Stinks - Pigs at the trough in New Mexico - Payola and KKOB-Gate

It appears Republican Congressman Heather Wilson's questionable politics has been outed yet again. While she has long history of dirty dealings, she also has friends in the local media who work diligently to help her cover up her messes. However, this time, along with Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White she bellies up to the trough with allegations of Felony Vote buying in New Mexico during last month's Republican nominating conventions in Bernalillo County. The story initially aired but was quickly pulled by KKOB News Director Pat Allen after he received calls from the Wilson camp pressuring him to drop the story.

According to blogger Brad Friedman, "The sitting Congresswoman is angling for an upgrade, as she hopes to be the state's Republican nominee to fill the Senate seat being vacated by outgoing Republican Pete Domenici. MacCallum's report, sourced by at least three different people, including herself, said that voters showed up to the delegate convention and claimed they were being "paid $35-an-hour (for two hours)" by Wilson's senate campaign and the congressional campaign of Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White, "and that the campaigns had also paid their $30 registration fees."

Brad Blog has tenaciously been covering this story - apparently revealing Local station KKOB's decision to sand-bag a story about Congressman Heather Wilson's effort to buy votes in New Mexico (click here).

It has been patently clear that KKOB has been slighted in the Right-wing direction for years and this just serves to further confirm it. Respected Journalist Lisa MacCallum has resigned in protest over the deliberate attempt to quash this story and, while KKOB is trying to contain the damage, it looks like the story is taking on a momentum of its own.

News reporter
Dennis Domrzalski is also doing a fine job of covering the story as well - you can read it by clicking here.

This just serves to show the power of the internet; to reveal information which politicians and their controlled media supporters would rather remain out of public attention.

It is time for this Bush lackey to go.

Thanks for the kind words about the stories and the Eye on New Mexico program. Rabid Republicans have never liked Dave because he always got lots of support from Democrats. They've never been able to stand the fact that Dave talks to union members, cooks and dishwashers. He even shakes hands with them.

Dave has been trying to reform the Republican Party since he got here in 1956. He truly is a voice in the wilderness.

Thanks,

Dennis Domrzalski
