A Voice in the Wilderness

As nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there's a twilight where everything remains seemingly unchanged, and it is in such twilight that we must be aware of change in the air, however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness. -- William O. Holy Boxers Batman ... Republican Congressman Mark Foley caught trying to 'Hide the pickle'... in a page!

From the Grand Old Party of Family Values - the party of Tom Delay [the crook], Rush Limbaugh [the prescription druggie], Bill O'Reilly [the sexual harasser], George Allen [the bigot]...

Ahh, the party of Fear and Smear can now add a sexual predator to its ranks as well.

Good Lord, look what happened today. Prominent - six-term - Florida Republican Congressman Mark Foley has resigned. In a three line correspondence, he apologized to his family and to his Florida electorate for bringing shame to his good name.

Apparantly, the morally upright Congressman has a proclivity for 16 year-old high-school age, work-study males. According to the Associated Press article released 25 minutes ago,

"ABC News reported Friday that Foley also engaged in a series of sexually explicit instant messages with current and former teenage male pages. In one message, ABC said, Foley wrote to one page: "Do I make you a little horny?"

In another message, Foley wrote, "You in your boxers, too? ... Well, strip down and get naked."

Foley, as chairman of the Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus, had introduced legislation in July to protect children from exploitation by adults over the Internet. He also sponsored other legislation designed to protect minors from abuse and neglect.

"We track library books better than we do sexual predators," Foley has said."

*cough* Amen to that Mr. Congressman!

Ahem - not what you'd expect from a legislator who likes getting romantic with teenage boys.

ABC's website has posted a collection of Representative Foley's lecherous, x-rated e-mail prose which he forwarded to several Pages (click here).

How odd, he seemed like such a grounded man especially when he said this on The Hill ... (click here)

It is also evident that the Republican party - actually aware of the Representative's nasty inclinations - opted to ignore the allegations (click here) because they needed the naughty Congressman's vote and they knew they just might lose a House seat if the information were to surface in this election year.

Shame, shame GOP.

Lets hope this freak gets prosecuted with the laws he was so proud to have a role in enacting - How ironic that he could end up on a Sex Offender Registry too.
