A Voice in the Wilderness

As nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there's a twilight where everything remains seemingly unchanged, and it is in such twilight that we must be aware of change in the air, however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness. -- William O. My Simple Religion

This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.

justme88,

Thanks - there are so many features on it that I have a lot to learn. Lucky for me, the camera is very easy to operate as it lends itself to experimentation - the only draw back I see is that there is no automatic flash - now that I am cognizant of that, I simply lift the hood and it flashes whenever I need it. Makes sense and gives me more latitude in the photography process. I am used to 35mm cameras so it is kind of tough getting used to letting the camera take the lead.

lorena,

Kindness is definitely under-valued these days. I am trying to be more aware of that these days. It's kind of like eating junk food a tough habit to break.

srikar,

Thanks for dropping by. I did visit your site - you have quite a readership. It is refreshing that we can be communicating across time and space regardless of borders.

beaver,

Thanks! Please keep coming by. I love the pics on your blog. What kind of law are you practicing?

timurilenk – Ivan Stewart,

I have so much more to learn – your photography is stunning. You have a special talent. The eye of an artist.

curtis,

I really like his world view and believe that both he and Thich Nhat Hanh are two wise souls who are in love with Humanity. They bring me peace and calm – welcome friends that never visit often enough or stay long enough.

I was raised a Roman Catholic – I still m and most likely will die one. I have some big reservations regarding RC but not enough to shake my faith because Jesus’ words are the foundation of Catholicism. To my way of thinking, anyone who preaches peace and celebrates Humanity is yet another embodiment of God. People may look different and the way they frame their thoughts may be different but goodness – ie those things worthy of God - are universal. We are all God’s children. When we forget that, it becomes easy to torture and kill fellow Human Beings. To my way of thinking, that is the ultimate sin because it is the root for all others to take hold.

Thanks to each of you for visiting. I am sorry for being remiss in responding promptly but I read your comments every day. My attention has been directed someplace else lately and I hope I have not lost any of you for it.

Be safe,
Joe
