A Voice in the Wilderness

As nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there's a twilight where everything remains seemingly unchanged, and it is in such twilight that we must be aware of change in the air, however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness. -- William O. London Attack - Let's be Careful

In order to rally people, governments need enemies. They want us to be afraid, to hate, so we will rally behind them. And if they do not have a real enemy, they will invent one in order to mobilize us.

Good quote.

Wish it wasn't applicable, but sadly it is with Iraq.

Let's hope that's not the case with the London bombings ... the conspiracy theorists are all over that one already ... personally I think the London attack was terrorism and not a setup to further the war, as some have claimed. Sure hope I'm right on that one.

This one will get your blood bubbling again ... got mine going ...

"It's like I said -- 40 people dead, 150 seriously wounded, 1,000 wounded, out of over 1 million people in that transit tube. It's not a successful terrorist attack, folks. They didn't succeed in doing anything ..."
- Rush Limbaugh on the London attack

g,

I am not much into conspiracy theories but I will say that politicians pursue their own agendas often at the expense of their constituency.

As conspiracy theories go, I am not all that convinced that there is anymore involved than a greedy need to protect their power. People will stop at nothing to secure their interests. I am disgusted by it because it involves manipulation of the truth and passing it through filters aimed at rallying support. Appealing to people's emotions is a cheap trick.

The unfolding controversy with Carl Rove exposing CIA Agent Valerie Plame - the wife of Congressman Wilson who challenged the Bush Administration's claims about WMD in Iraq - is an apropos example of what lengths Bush & Co. are willing to go in order to silence their enemies and foist their agenda on the public.

They should have just painted a bull’s-eye on the Congressman's wife because her exposure put her life in jeopardy. Carl Rove is a sick, power-hungry bastard.

g,

Rush Limbaugh is paid to whip up people's emotions. I could see that jerk actually taking money to attack rape victims if there was money in it, rest assured he would do it.

Hate-mongerers like Rush, Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly make their money by appealing to people's fears. They invoke the name of God and warp themselves in the American flag but they are nothing more than fascists who are echoing the sentiments of the true minority; White Anglo males (as a female, Coulter just serves as an example of what happens when money means more than Humanity). Time is marching on and the demographics are changing in America - like it or not, their grip is slipping.

Just remember, an animal always struggles strongest when it is in the throes of death. Expect more from these morons - even though their efforts are doomed.
