A Voice in the Wilderness

As nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there's a twilight where everything remains seemingly unchanged, and it is in such twilight that we must be aware of change in the air, however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness. -- William O. Whitehouse Great Father Speak with Forked Tounge - Now Ready for Fork in Butt

On his 31 May 2005 Press Conference held in the Rose garden, President Bush re-affirmed his commitment to keep talking out about his agenda to change the Social Security program. He said,

"There's a duty to respond. There is a duty for people to bring forth their ideas."
He then stated, "Listen, I readily concede there's this attitude in Washiington that we can't work together 'cause [sic] one party may benefit and the other party may not benefit. The [American] people don't like that. They don't like that attitude. They expect membes of both parties to solve problems."

How interesting that the President is so dedicated to such open dialogue in his quest to change Social Security yet he has remained equally steadfast in stonewalling Congress' attempt to view documents regarding the President's nominee for UN Delegate, John Bolton as they continue to debate whether the surly man is what America needs or wants as its next Ambassador..

The President's duplicity clearly indicates that his dedication to vetting out the truth relies on whether the issues suit his agenda or not. He stubbornnly refuses to accept that Social Security reform is dead in the water. Never the less, he continues to schedule staged meetings throughout the country to drum up support for an issue that neither enjoys public support or backing from members of party who currently maintain control of both houses in Congress.

It is simply a matter of time now before the press smells blood. It is only a matter of time when the reality hits that George Bush is in the beginning stages of his lame-duck period - No opportunity for re-election - 173+ billion dollars and counting in costs of the Iraq war - No end in sight for the Iraq War - Nuclear proliferation in Iraq and North Korea . Legal woes that dog his pal, Tom DeLay in the TRMPAC scandal in Texas. Dubya's days are numbered. His declaration of having a 'mandate' from America to pursue his neo-conservative agenda has ended up resonating like his hollow declaration that the Iraq war was over when he paraded, aboard the USS Lincoln in May 2003 with the banner as a backdrop that said, "Mission Accomplished." Oops.

So, the question begs to be asked of our Commander in Chief,

In the spirit of cooperation and since the American people demand dialogue and cooperation, when are you going to release the information about John Bolton? If Bolton is your man, then nothing out in the ether should disqualify him from his date with destiny right? If John Bolton is as solid a candidate as you claim, then his information, any information regarding Mr. Bolton should stand up to the light of day. If you are going to tell the American public that your aim is to keep talking until someone gets your message, perhaps you should heed your own words. Otherwise Mr President, Talk is cheap.

Thank Heaven for the First Amendment.
