Schiavo Autopsy Results

Teri Schiavo's autopsy results are in: Her husband's contentions were correct. Teri was deemed to have been in a Persistent Vegetative State and the damage was irreversible. She was blind and there were no signs of traumatic abuse - either from the autopsy or from review of x-rays taken immediately after Teri was found unconscious.

I admire Michael Schiavo's determination in honoring his wife's wish that she not be kept on life support. His actions showed tremendous courage. They proved his commitment to his wife. How unfortunate that he had to pay such a bitter price as he faced for religious fanatics and politicians who siezed this media event to demonstrate their piety and bolster their political standing.

Where are these pro-life advocates when people are being executed?

Where are the pro-life advocates as we find out about Iraqis being beaten and tortured to death by American interrogaters?

Clearly, the media can influence public opinion. However, through Michael, Teri prevailed over those who tried to manipulate America's emotions for personal political and market-share gains.

According to Medical Examiner Jon Throgmartin, MD,

"The collapse left her completely blind and most likely in a persistent vegetative state, Thogmartin said.

Schiavo's heart suddenly stopped beating in 1980, when she was 26. An emergency crew revived her, but by that time her brain had been without blood for several minutes, causing severe brain damage.

Tests performed on her shortly after she arrived at the hospital found unusually low levels of potassium in her blood. In a 1992 civil trial, a court concluded that an eating disorder led to the potassium imbalance, which in turn caused her heart to stop beating.

Thogmartin questioned that finding. The potassium imbalance could very well have been the result, rather than the cause, of Schiavo's collapse, he said.

Thogmartin also said extensive x-rays and other tests both in the autopsy and at the time of Schiavo's initial hospitalization ruled out physical abuse as a cause of her initial collapse and subsequent brain damage."

Pope "Orkin" DeLay - not a priest, just another crooked politician

Majority Whip Congressman Tom DeLay (R-Texas), the lazy-eyed bug exterminator, is a major loser in this fiasco. He forced Congress to sumit by passing an unconstitutional law, taylored specifically to negate Michael and Terri Schiavo's matrimonial rights. DeLay did so because he thought it might draw attention away from numerous illegal activities he has been involved in. He threatened the Judiciary and wrongly over-estimated his influence on the popular sentiment. Americans believe the government should stay out of decisions made by spouses regarding end of life issues. Thank Heaven for the Judiciary who stopped DeLay's march dead in its tracks.
