A Voice in the Wilderness

As nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there's a twilight where everything remains seemingly unchanged, and it is in such twilight that we must be aware of change in the air, however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness. -- William O. Coming Soon - Tour de France 2005

Some people get to be heroes,
Some become legends
Some become both...

I am a cycling nut so I can't wait for the Tour de Lance.
oops! Tour de France to begin on 2 July 2005.

I hope Lance Armstrong can pull off this final victory before he retires from the sport. He is retiring to spend more time with his children.

This amazing American has already won the Tour de France an unprecedented six times and is poised to make History if he can wear the famed yellow jersey, the Maillot jaune, to a record-setting seventh victory.

The fact that he is American in this European-dominated sport is all the more impressive. Way to go Mellow Johnnie!

His personal story is even more incredible

I admire Lance's tenacity and the fact that he fought his way back from a bout with Testicular Cancer. He is a courageous man. If you ever want to read a good story about a child from a single-parent household whose mother not only struggled to keep him fed but devoted her life to making him all that he could be then this is the story;

Its not about the Bike

You have probably seen people with those yellow bracelets right? They are the bands sold by the Lance Armstrong Foundation which he set up to collect money for reasearch to fight Cancer. They only cost one dollar and all the proceeds go toward a noble cause.

It just goes to show; a loving mama is sometimes all it takes for a scrawny, awkward kid who doesn't fit in his world to become a world-class champion - not only in his sport but in his life.

Mama Armstrong, you deserve a throne in Heaven. Bless you for having faith in your boy and offering him up as one for the ages.

A Legend and a Hero

Good luck Lance!

Thanks for the cool pic Johnny!
