A Voice in the Wilderness

As nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there's a twilight where everything remains seemingly unchanged, and it is in such twilight that we must be aware of change in the air, however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness. -- William O. Never bring a knife to a gunfight

"... and she said, 'We are all just prisoners here of our own device.'

And in their master's chambers, they gathered for a big feast.
They stab it with their steely knives, but they just can't kill the beast!"
Hotel California - The Eagles

The following exchange took place today on Samir's blog, Truths, Rants and Ramblings, The Comment was entiled US Attacks Near Syrian Border & TV Lies About It. As it turns out, Samir's claim was right on the money and the MSM has now started posting reports that fierce resistance was unexpected in this most recent military undertaking aimed at rooting out insurgents gathered near Syria's border. As a matter of fact even the cable news media later reported on it, albeit in a 'played down' sort of way. Apparently "Fred" has heartburn with the, 'Liberal Agenda' which, as far as I can see is up-to-date reportage of factual events occurring in Iraq.

Poor Fred, he momentarily took leave of his senses and suggested I engage in certain NAUGHTY acts with him which, in all candor, I am completely uninterested in exploring. I happen to love women and personally, the thought of feces does little to arouse my romantic inclinations.

Apparently, Fred had a moment of lucidity and realized we were not in a playground or a bath house for that matter and he cleaned up his act... for a while. He then took offense at a remark I had previously made about farts smelling like roses. Unfortunately, he couldn't seem to overcome his Tourette Syndrome.

Samir,

Reading your blog gives me hope that the youth of America are still taking great pains to educate themselves despite how unpopular it is becoming.

To me, you represent the New and Improved American. You are capable of taking on these oafs with facts and reality. You are proving it is equally fashionable to love your country and still question its insane policies. That is what true patriotism is about. You support entertainment of dialogue in contrast to the duplicitous Right that rue the notion of freedom to choose as the worst concept ever put forward by our Founding Fathers who, after all, were silly enough to include it in our beloved Constitution. You understand the importance of true Democracy as opposed to imposition of Bible-thumpinng morality by consensus. You see through the smoke screen of diatribe and choose to be your own person.

Perhaps the most important thing you have realized is the need to take the fight back to these Pseudo-Fascist Neo-Conservative hacks and you fight the fires of ignorance with facts upon facts. These days, Democracy isn't for the faint of heart. Keep taking these blow-hard wimps on and remember, once you turn the light on and expose their squishy-brainned logic, they scatter like cockroaches. History is on your side my friend.

Remember in the Wizard of Oz when the Great and powerful Oz kept saying, "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain?" Remember also, that after it was all said and done, the 'wizard' turned out to be just a man, and he wasn't near as omnipotent as he would have had Dorothy and her band of soulsearching 'misfits' believe. The irony of his exposure lay in a little dog. For me, Toto is the metaphor of truth or facts. They have a way of tugging on the curtain of control.

As for me, like Pancho Villa once said, "It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees." Personally, my heros are people like Martin Luther King. Think of me as a Mohadnas Ghandi with a stinging left. I have no compuction with swinging back when I get jabbed.

God bless you andk eep up the good fight Samir.

I always thought Hotel California would have been a perfect theme song for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

I wondered if anyone would pick up on the references - I suppose the neo-con's view Liberals as beasts - How ironic, they have become the monstor they so abhorred and so inappropriately described Liberals as being.

Now Eileen, if the bastards ever lobotomize me with their Fascist, hate-filled ideology and you see that glazed-over, non-responsive look in my eyes, do me a favor. I want you to go get a pillow out and snuff the life out of me. Then you are to hop the fence and disappear just like Chief did.
